This Problem Set is a part of the Lesson 16, Unit 5, Grade 2. In this lesson, students apply their understanding of subtracting numbers within 1,000 to the special case of subtracting from multiples of 100 and numbers with zero in the tens place. They decompose hundreds into a smaller number of hundreds and tens. For example, 300 can be decomposed into 2 hundreds and 9 tens, and 10 ones in order to be able to have enough tens and ones to subtract.
