Using Pattern Blocks for modeling, students build a number line that is greater than 1 whole. This lesson focuses on looking for and making use of the structure of fractions. Through the use of visual models students will see repetitions in the structure of unit fractions and their relationship to wholes. Students will use this structure to discover that wholes on a number line continue in a pattern.
