Unit 2, Lesson 3

Write and interpret numerical expressions and compare expressions using a visual model.

EngageNY 60 min(s)

In this lesson, students write and interpret expressions in different forms. They write from word form to numerical expression and solve using tape diagrams. For example, students write three times the sum of 26 and four as 3x(26+4) or (26+4)x3. Then students write from a numerical expression into word form. Finally, students compare expressions in word form and numerical form, using tape diagrams.
