Unit 4, Lesson 18

Relate decimal and fraction multiplication.

EngageNY 60 min(s)

In this lesson, students continue understanding multiplying decimals. They estimate the product before multiplying. For example, 3.2 x 0.44 is about 3 copies of almost 1/2 which is about 1 1/2. Then they will rewrite the decimals as fractions and multiply using the algorithm. For example, 32/10 x 44/100 = 1408/1000 = 1.408.
