In this lesson, students continue understanding the division of whole numbers with answers in the form of fractions or mixed numbers. Students continue to interpret remainders as fractions. They do equal sharing problems using pictorial representations, as needed. For example, pouring 4 kg of oats into 3 bags yields 4/3 kg or 1 1/3 kg of oats in each bag. Finally, they double the amount shared and observe the effects on the amount in each bag.
