Unit 4, Lesson 30

Divide decimal dividends by non‐unit decimal divisors.

EngageNY 60 min(s)

In this lesson, students continue understanding dividing by decimals. They rewrite decimals as non-unit fractions. For example, 2 ÷ 0.2 is rewritten as 2/0.2. Then students will multiply by a fraction equal to 1 to make the denominator a whole number. For example, multiplying by 10/10 would make the fraction 20/2. Finally, students would simplify the fraction to the lowest terms, 10.
