In this lesson, students continue interpreting finding a fraction of a set as multiplication of a whole number by a fraction using tape diagrams to support their understanding. They will represent a whole number with a tape diagram and divide it into the number of units indicated by the denominator. For example, 3/5 of 35 will be represented by a tape diagram representing 35 divided into 5 equal parts. Then they will determine the value of each unit (7) and finally determine the value of 3 units (21).
