This Instructional Activity is a part of the Lesson 4, Unit 1, Grade 6. In this activity, students continue to reason about areas of parallelograms, both on and off the grid. While there is not one correct way to find the area of a parallelogram, each parallelogram here is designed to elicit a particular strategy. The grid and its absence allow students to reason concretely and abstractly, respectively, about the measurements that they need to find the area.
