This Instructional Activity is a part of the Lesson 6, Unit 8, Grade 6. In this activity, students continue to develop their understanding of histograms. They begin to notice that a dot plot may not be best for representing a data set with a lot of variability (or where few values are repeated) or when a data set has a large number of values. Histograms may help us visualize a distribution more clearly in these situations. Students organize a data set into "bins" and draw a histogram to display the distribution.
