Unit 6, Lesson 21# Summarizing a Data Distribution by Describing Center, Variability, and Shape

EngageNY 45 min(s)

Given a data set, students describe the data distribution using the mean and mean absolute deviation (MAD) or the median and the interquartile range (IQR). This lesson provides an opportunity for students to summarize a given data set. As students work through this lesson, have them think about how what they are doing applies to the data that they have collected for their projects. In the Problem Set of this module, students are expected to summarize their project data (collected in Lesson 17) and construct a poster or an outline of a presentation.
