The purpose of this task is for students to translate information about a context involving constant speed into information presented in a table and to find the time it takes to travel a unit distance as well as the distance traveled per unit time. Students then have to translate the information to equations and graphs and then use these mathematical tools to make predictions about the future. If we only used integer values, the first few parts of this task could come from a 6th grade task. In fact, a 6th grade version of this task is 6.RP Walk-a-thon.
