This Instructional Activity is a part of the Lesson 13, Unit 1, Grade 8. Corresponding sides of congruent polygons have the same length. For shapes like ovals, examined in the previous activity, there are no "sides." However, if points A and B on one figure correspond to points A' and B' on a congruent figure, then the length of segment AB is equal to the length of segment A'B' because translations, rotations, and reflections do not change distances between points.
