In this lesson, students represent "take from" equations (C - B = A) with no unknown for totals to 10. First, they represent a subtraction number story with counting bears, create a number bond, and write an equation. Then, they repeat the pattern with numbers 9 through 8. Next, students use linking cubes to model another situation and create a number sentence. This is done for numbers 10 through 1. Finally, students create different number stories for the number 10 and write number sentences for them.
