Multiplying fractions word problem: laundry (Full video)

Khan Academy

Supporting grades: 5

Description: Someone is about to run out of laundry detergent which means sticky clothes! Help her estimate how much she has left. This problem involves multiplying a unit fraction by a non-unit fraction. Gina had 2/3 cups of laundry detergent. She used half of the detergent on Friday to wash all of her sheets. So we're essentially going to take half of 2/3, or 1/2 times 2/3.
