UnboundEdGrade 3 Standards Guide: Operations & Algebraic Thinking
Supporting grades: 3

Description: Explanations and examples of how to implement the Operations & Algebraic Thinking standards in Grade 3. Perhaps the most important goal for students in Grade 3 is to fluently multiply and divide within 100, knowing all multiplication facts from memory. To reach this goal, students develop and use strategies based on the properties of operations (the commutative and associative properties of multiplication and the distributive property), and the relationship between multiplication and division. Students build on their understanding of properties of operations from earlier grades and apply these new properties as strategies to solve problems.
